Oddsfjellet

At the top of Oddsfjellet lies the grave of the Viking Orvar Odd.

Text: Arnt Olav Klippenberg

The grave was struck by lightning in the 1970s, but some of the stones have been placed back in position more recently. In 1844, the local priest excavated the grave. The artifacts found are now at the Viking Ship Museum in Oslo. The hike to the top takes around 15-20 minutes. The view is fantastic. There is a designated parking area by County Road 33. The trail is secured with steps on the mountainside and sturdy cables.
